Lite-On Establishes Regional HQ, R&D Centre in S’pore

 

 

Lite-On Technology Corp, a Taiwan based optoelectronics supplier officially opened its Regional Headquarters (RHQ) and Research & Development (R&D) centre in Singapore Tuesday.

Lite-On Singapore, will house Lite-On’s new business unit - Optical Communication Solutions (OCS) which comprises of three businesses-- IrDA, Optocoupler and Sensor Solutions divisions.

OCS will have full P&L responsibilities. It will also operate a full-fledge R&D centre and serve as OCS regional marketing hub.

According to Lite-On, the R&D centre will be dedicated to the development of “cutting-edge” and “high value-added” products for OCS based on a total solution approach that includes software and system levels.

Manned by a team of IC designers, process/product engineers, software engineers, optics designers and system architecture engineers, the centre aims to serve as a one-stop design hub to expand the product portfolio to serves worldwide market in consumer, automotive, communication and industrial applications.

“The setting up of this facility in Singapore is an important milestone in Lite-On’s progress towards being the number one global leader in digital converged devices,” said Mr TERNG Kheng Chung, CEO of Lite-On Technology Corp.

“The RHQ of Lite-On Singapore will provide a strong foundation for Lite-On Technology to serve and meet the needs of our global customer base while the new R&D centre will enable Lite-On Technology to introduce innovative products into the global markets and position us for long term competitive advantage.“

Lite-On Singapore has some 30 employees currently which it plans to triple over the next four years.
