Samsung X360 a MacBook Air Killer?

 

 

Samsung this week unveiled its latest notebook range - the ultra-lightweight X360- at the ongoing IFA 2008 in Berlin, Germany.

Weighing just 1.27 kg, the notebook is touted to be the lightest in its class, beating the MacBook Air and Lenovo X300.

The X360 sports a 13.3-inch screen and also boasts of a Centrino 2 processor. The laptop itself is quite thin with dimensions that range between .66 to 1.2 inches. Equipped with DDR3 1066MHz 1GB memory, expandable up to 4GB, the laptop packs an external DVD super multi-dual layer writer.

Other features include a X4500 integrated graphics card, WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity, a 1.3 megapixel digital camera for video conferencing, option of a 64 GB or 128 GB Solid State Drive (SSD) or a 5400RPM 120 GB hard disk drive. The notebook is fitted with a six-cell battery that provides more than 10 hours of normal use.

Samsung has also added a lot of connectivity options missing from the Macbook Air including an Ethernet jack, an ExpressCard slot, HDMI and VGA outputs and a multi-card reader.

Samsung X360 notebook will be available from September in some European countries including UK, France, Germany, Spain and Italy, and also in Russia, China and Hong Kong. Pricing and availability details have not been revealed yet.
