Avaya has expanded the availability of its enterprise communications application, Avaya one-X™ Mobile, to now reach Apple’s iPhone range, including the new 3G version, in Singapore and Australia.
"Now iPhone users can have the same corporate communications experience that they would on their desktops, but remotely," said James Haensly, Avaya Vice President Unified Communications business.
"We're thrilled to have added iPhone support to Avaya one-X Mobile given the significant customer demand we experienced and we will continue to raise the bar on mobility features and functionality."
Avaya one-X Mobile allows businesses and employees to extend unified communications – on any vendor platform with any mobile device. The solution unites enterprise and mobile networks, allowing the two to work together more effectively while increasing the value of existing investments in communications infrastructure.
Companies and employees both benefit since one-X Mobile routes business calls through both the company’s IP PBX and their public mobile network, businesses and organizations improve employee responsiveness to customers, worker productivity and business continuity while reducing mobile calling costs and supporting compliance requirements. Employees are accessible to customers and colleagues through a single number regardless of their location and can remain available during emergency or planned outages. Companies subject to compliance requirements can record calls taken or made through the mobile device and have a single source for call records.
"The reality is that many enterprises out there have mobile workforces using a variety of devices from a variety of vendors. Enterprise solutions that support multiple mobile operating systems and reference designs for both smartphones and features phones have a distinct advantage in becoming pervasive productivity tools," says Shalini Verma, Research Manager - Communications Research, IDC Asia Pacific.
"While organizations are keen to reign in the numbers and types of enterprise ready devices, mobile workers and business decision makers are moving in the opposite direction."
The solution is available as part of the Avaya Unified Communications Standard Edition.
According to Avaya, one-X Mobile for other smartphones including RIM, Palm OS, Java, WAP, Symbian and Windows Mobile is available from September in Asia through Avaya direct sales and authorized Avaya channel partners and will be provided automatically to new customers of one-X Mobile. |
